More Info:
Belle Isle is famous as an excellent area for coarse fishing. Being on the North end of Upper Lough Erne, it has some top weights of bream, roach and perch. There are two main banks that are pegged: the Bridge with 22 pegs, and the West Island with 16. Catches of over 200lbs have been achieved in 1998.

The numbers of pike in Upper Lough Erne are now increasing, and Belle Isle offers some excellent fishing in the winter months. The heaviest pike in 1998 was 29lbs, caught in March near Carrybridge.

Dave Ensor, who lives in Carrybridge sells licences and permits, and can also supply bait. Tickets for pegs can also be bought from him at a cost of £3.00 per day or £15.00 per week.

Boats are available for hire at £5.00 for the coarse fisherman to take them to places on the lake, which are inaccessible. These are 17ft and have an outboard motor. Boats used all day by the pike fisherman cost £10.00 per day.

Carrybridge Hotel is a popular venue for fishermen in the evening, and within walking distance of Belle Isle. There is also a grocery store beside the hotel.

The three most popular cottages for the fishermen are Glen Cottage, The Bridge Cottage and The Bridge House, because of their proximity to the water. Glen Cottage has a wood shed for storing fishing gear, and the other two have garages with a fridge to keep bait.

THE BRIDGE HOUSE

A two storey house beside the bridge and within yards of the water. The boats are kept in front of the house. The house sleeps 6 with 1x double bedroom, 1x twin bedroom and 1x bunk beds. Downstairs are a living room, dinning room and a kitchen. The bathroom is upstairs and heating is night storage.

THE BRIDGE COTTAGE

The bungalow is on the opposite side of the water to the Bridge House. This also sleeps 6 with 2x twin bedrooms and 1x bunk beds. There is a bathroom, living room and large kitchen with dinning area at one end. There is oil-fired central heating as well as an immersion heater.

GLEN COTTAGE

The smallest cottage on the estate is an attached single storey cottage that sleeps 4. It has 2x twin bedrooms, bathroom and sitting room and kitchen.

Prices include linen and towels, all electricity and heating.
